The Flying of Kites.

A traditional custom for both children and their parents is flying

kites on Clean Monday (Ash Monday).It's even better and more fun

if you create your own kite,with your dad's help (see here).

The kite is associated with the "uplift" of the soul after carnival and 

the beginning of Lent (forty days of fast before Easter).

                 

In fact, the kite was brought to Europe from China by Marco Polo.

It is believed that Chinese people discovered the kite 3.000 years 

ago.It was a sacred symbol,in the form of a dragon with a long tail.

Hello everyone!
CLEAN (Ash) MONDAY is a public holiday in Greece that marks the beginning
of  Lent.On this day, people go out and  spend their time having picnics and flying
colourful kites.
