A Christmas custom: The pomegranate
The custom of the pomegranate goes back to the ancient times,in mythology
and is widely spread all over Greece.According to the tradition, on New Year's Day
all the family goes to church and when they return home the landlord should be
the first to enter the house on his right foot,Before entering,he throws a pomegranate
in order to break it! This symbolizes good luck, abundance and fertility.
Besides, everybody makes a wish:"All grains the pomegranate has so many pounds
we have in our pocket,as long as robust and beautiful are the seeds so cheerful and blessed
are our days"
